Color grading with Dehancer
If you’re anything like me and love the look of real film but find shooting it a bit impractical (or pricey!), Dehancer might just be your new best friend. Finding Dehancer was a game changer. It’s a film emulation plugin that nails the look and feel of genuine analog film, and honestly, it’s become essential in my workflow.
One of the standout features of Dehancer is its impressive library of film presets. My absolute favorites are Kodak Pro Image 100, Fuji 100, and the cinematic Kodak Vision3 250D and 500T. Each preset isn’t just a generic filter; they’re meticulously crafted emulations that closely mimic the grain structure, color shifts, and tonal range of the actual films. It’s almost uncanny how authentic the results look.
I primarily use the Dehancer plugin within DaVinci Resolve, and it integrates seamlessly. The interface is straightforward, and you can fine-tune every little detail—from halation to film grain—helping your videos stand out with that nostalgic filmic character.
Dehancer also has a mobile app, which is perfect for quickly grading iPhone videos on the go. While I find the user interface a bit outdated, the results still speak for themselves. It’s genuinely impressive what you can achieve directly on your phone.
If you’ve been looking to bring that authentic film vibe to your digital work, Dehancer is absolutely worth checking out. And to sweeten the deal, you can use the discount code “Joewu” for 10% off your purchase.
